Welcome To Western Hills
Why go to church? And if you go, why here at Western Hills?
What To Expect At Western Hills
Hi, my name is Grant and I’m one of the pastors here at Western Hills. More than likely I will be the one teaching up front on the day you choose to check us out (but not always). By the time I was 19, I had moved 11 times. I know how intimidating and uncomfortable it can be walking into a new place. I know how difficult it can be to meet new friends and feel plugged in. So trust me when I tell you this – Western Hills is a different kind of experience. At least we are trying to be and I think you’ll feel that difference within the first 5 minutes of walking in the door.
But most folks check out churches online before showing up, so let me give you a snapshot of what to expect at Western Hills.
* We are a band of misfits. We’ve got bankers, lawyers, construction workers, soccer moms, white collars, blue collars, no collars.
* Dress Code: Please wear clothes. Most of us wear jeans, even me. Come as you are.
* Two very different worship experiences – each lasting about an hour.
* unplugged@9 is our earlier service where we get quiet and still. It’s a low-key, highly interactive service.
* Our 10:30 service is the same message but we amp up the music.
* Both services are centered on thought-provoking teaching based on the Bible.
* Incredible live music and stage design (for most series).
* Specially designed teaching times for 5th & 6th graders during the 9am service.
* Student Ministry for 7th-12th also meets during the 9am service.
* Fun teaching for your kids 4th grade and younger during both services.
* Friendly people who hang out in Life Groups.
* Opportunities to serve the community and help others.
Of course, this is just a snapshot of who we are. I really encourage you to catch a service or download a message if you like. If you’re still a bit cautious – you can check out my personal blog (link is at the top of this page). (Be ready for some serious discussions on Alabama football and the Denver Broncos.) Come up and introduce yourself to me so we can get to know each other. If you would like more information on a specific ministry, you can also click on the Contact Us tab at the top of the page or ask your question in the form below. I’ll make sure we get the right people to get back with you as soon as we can.
You’ll see our mantra of love God, live connected, and serve all all over the place. It’s how we understand our mission – both as individual Christ-followers and as a church. We exist to love God, serve others, and to do that connected with each other. We are growing into this kind of church.
So I hope to see you around. And relax, no perfect people go to church here. We are all figuring it out as we go.
God’s Best,
Grant
Lead Pastor
