Western Hills Church
Children’s Ministry Update

Hi! My name is Susan Ladenburger, and I want to introduce myself to you as the Interim Children’s Director at Western Hills. I’ve been married to my wonderful husband, Jay T for 34 years! We were blessed with 3 daughters, whom many of you know. In the last six years we’ve added 3 son-in-laws and 2 grandsons. Family time is our favorite time! Jay T and I have been at Western Hills for about 13 years. We love our Lord and love our church and love to serve the Lord at Western Hills!

Besides being Mom and Nana, I work part-time in my own business as a companion/care-giver for 3 amazing elderly clients.  Throughout my life, I have worked with every age group, from birth to college, and have directed pre-school and youth programs. I am excited to be able to use my past experiences and the gifts God has given me to not only maintain the great program that Darci has built, but to also begin incorporating a few new ideas! I am beyond excited to be a part of the team at Western Hills.

There are a few changes that you will want to be aware of as we move forward:

  1. Worship Kid’s Style will begin a summer break after this Sunday, June 11th. Children grades 1st through 4th who normally attend Kid’s Style during the 10:30 hour will be asked to join their family for worship in the sanctuary. A table will be set up in the lobby with coloring packets, fun worksheets and crayons if you would like to use them.  During the summer break, I will be recruiting a director for that ministry and building a team of teachers so that we can implement new curriculum and formats in order to create the best atmosphere possible for our kids to worship. If you feel called to work with me in this area, don’t hesitate to contact me.
  2. As we move forward, we ask that all families with children infant through 4th grade would please make it a frequent habit to stop by our Children’s Welcome Center in the north lobby! We will have information about activities and events for preschoolers and children as well as a more formal check-in process for all ages. Currently, we are asking each family to fill out an information card to be used in updating our database for that secure check-in/check-out system I mentioned. We will be introducing and implementing it in the near future to insure the safety of our kids. Watch for more details to come!
  3. I am thrilled to introduce Katie Ansley as our Vacation Bible School Director! Look for her in the lobby this Sunday at the VBS volunteer sign-up. Registration is now open for Art Camp VBS here

I look forward to serving together with many of you as we strive to love and teach the precious children that God brings through our doors.
