Welcome to Western Hills.
We are a church with a 19 year history in Topeka located at the intersection of Auburn Road and 29th street.
Of course, those are just technical details. Your natural questions is, "just who are you and what are you really about, anyway?"
We are simply here to Connect people with God and each other It is this relational perspective that causes us to consider ourselves a spiritual community rather than just an organization. We are serious about living out our faith together as we serve each other and our community.
Our purpose is stated as “Engaging spiritually uninvolved people in the life changing journey of knowing and following Christ.”
Each word in this statement is carefully chosen. We want people at WHBC to be “engaged” in the Christian life–-not entertained, not side-lined, and not baby sat, but empowered, motivated, actively involved in life and the dynamic pursuit of spiritual truth and transformation. We want to engage “spiritually uninvolved people,” either unbelievers who desperately need to meet and love the Savior or believers who have been shelved by spiritual ineffectiveness or lack of opportunity. We want to engage people spiritually in the “journey” of knowing, trusting, and obeying Christ, helping them to experience God’s grace, goodness, and greatness in ways that charge their souls and overflow their hearts with joy. And we want people to be passionate for “Christ” the highest and grandest calling in life to which anyone can aspire and for which any price is ultimately worth.
