others develop life skills and financial planning and training.
Volunteers can help with providing food or manning the pantry during
distribution times. The ministry will need volunteers to do life skills

Volunteers will help residents attend Chapel services by assisting them
with their wheelchairs. Chapel times are Monday and Wednesday evenings.

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) of Shawnee Co.

Work together with Judge Mitchell. Volunteer to be an advocate for
children -- Birth -18 years old, that have been part of child abuse or
child neglect cases filed by the Social and Rehabilitation Services
(SRS). A 25 hour training program is free. You would represent the
child before the court, making a recommendation as to what to do with
the child as far as home and living conditions. They also need funding
help.

Provides low cost housing. Old homes are bought and fixed up with
volunteer help and then rented at a subsidized cost. Volunteers are
needed to help repair old homes.

Volunteers will do laundry, mending on clothes donated to the center.
Most volunteers volunteer once a week. Help with pregnancy tests, or
work in the friendship room which includes distributing diapers,
formulas etc. Running errands.

utilities. Volunteers will work in their food room with stocking

Provides through volunteers, vital support to individuals and their
families by simple acts of kindness, sitting with a patient, baking
cookies, sewing, mowing the grass, sharing a story, listening and
holding a hand.
Kairos Torch

Prison ministry for juvenile offenders.
Provides One-to-One mentoring each Thursday evenings for a 6 month
period. Volunteers are needed to work "one on one" with juveniles
reentering normal life after serving a jail/prison sentence. This
mentoring program requires a commitment for a 6 month period.

Volunteers
will help in many areas of food stocking and distribution, clothing
sorting and distribution and some educational and technical training.
Other areas of opportunity would be job interview training and early
childhood programs. Donations of money, food and clothing are accepted.

Volunteers will work alongside future home owners as new, low cost
housing is built for screened applicants. Some construction skills are
required, however, they will provide training. Donations for supplies
are always needed.

Owns 7 public housing sites for elderly and low income citizen, and 3
family sites. These people pay 30% of income toward rent. Occupancy is
completely full. Volunteers can plan and organize activities for
residents in the sites for the elderly.

Their goal is to meet the needs of the homeless by providing meals and
shelter. Free clothing and household items are also available.
Volunteers are needed to stock the warehouse, cook and help provide for
those using the Mission as shelter. Donations of food and clothing are
accepted.

This ministry receives some support from FSBC. Delivery of food/clothing (they do their screening and work with Let’s
Help). Mentoring -- put someone with a family. Concentrates on the
Hispanic community as well as others minorities. After school
ministries, life skills training, some drug and alcohol recovery
programs that use women volunteers. Volunteers are needed to help with
recovery programs, life skills and food distribution. Food donations
are also needed.

Help provide meals to those unable to cook for themselves. Volunteers
need to have their own vehicles and be prepared to work 1-2 days a week
during the noon hours, delivering pre-cooked meals. You will be
receiving the meals at the SW YMCA.
