It’s amazing to see what God did with that simple mantra last year, and we don’t think He’s done either. With all of the growth, we’ve gone beyond what our leadership can handle. We need more qualified volunteers, more mentors, more coaches, and more servant leaders.
We know the best way to get all of this is to develop people.
So that’s the push – to develop people, to challenge them to grow in their relationship with Jesus, and to focus three key areas: our growth, our serve, and our give.
Before we unpack these areas, it’s important to understand why.
It’s not so we can have an increased attendance or get more money for ministry. Those are self-serving reasons that have little to no impact on the planet for the Kingdom.
We are challenging you to grow because your life is going to be better by being deeper with Jesus.
We are challenging you to grow because there are people in your life that God is sending you specifically to reach.
We are challenging you to grow because you are part of the church and God’s plan to reach the world.
There’s a lot more at stake than just church attendance and budgets.
We announce the message about Christ, and we use all our wisdom to warn and teach everyone, so that all of Christ’s followers will grow and become mature. Colossians 1:28
Our connect groups as “grow groups.” They are designed with two focuses. First, to help you grow in a specific area: financial issues, Bible knowledge, spiritual gifts, marriage, parenting. The list is long; the opportunities are many.
The second focus is to connect you with other Christ-followers. Spiritual growth is not a solo adventure. We need others on the journey with us to encourage us. This is why our Connect Groups are key to growing in Christ.

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s grace… 1 Peter 4:10
Starting Point is not just a class for folks interested in joining Western Hills. It’s a great place to figure out your passion of ministry and your spiritual gift.
There are plenty of ministries to start serving in as well. From holding babies to helping special needs adults and everything in between: the sky is the limit.
Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need. Malachi 3:10
There’s no getting around this truth: wherever our money is, that’s where our heart is as well. God commands us to give in order to keep us from becoming greedy.
If you want to know further why it’s important to give, start here on our FAQ page on giving.
You can also take the 90 Day Tithe Challenge. It’s simply this: testing Malachi 3:10. Give 10% of your income for 90 days. If God has not delivered on His promise of opening up the floodgates of blessings, we’ll refund every penny that you’ve given during the challenge.
Take the journey. Dare to grow in 2017 and see what God has for you.
