Why Worry When You Can Pray? How to Revitalize Your Prayer Life

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Philippians 4:6

Six Causes Of Anxiety
1.Purposelessness
2.Daily Needs
3.Guilt
4.Resentment
5.Temptation
6.Fear

One of the root causes of anxiety is lack of intimacy with God.

Two indicators of ineffective prayer

My prayers are a superficial performance.

“When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners and in the synagogues where everyone can see them. I tell you the truth, that is all the reward they will ever get. 6 But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.
Matthew 6:5,6

My prayers are a superstitious ritual.

“When you pray, don’t babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. 8 Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! Matthew 6:7,8

Four elements of effective prayer

Pray like this... Matthew 6:9-15

1. Realign with God’s purposes.
Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.” Matt. 6:9,10

2. Request God’s provision.
“Give us this day our daily bread...” Matthew 6:11 (See Matthew 6:34; James 4:2)

3. Receive God’s pardon.
And forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against
Matthew 6:12

4. Request God’s protection.
And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.
Matthew 6:13

God’s ability is greater than my anxiety.
