Visiting Western Hills

We invite you to join us for a Sunday service to see for yourself what Western Hills is about. Of course, we understand that visiting any church for the first time means entering unfamiliar territory, which can be a little intimidating. First of all, let us assure you that visiting Western Hills is not a difficult process. In fact if you even stop reading here and just show up on a Sunday, you will do just fine. However, for those of you who like to know exactly what to expect and do, we have put together these simple instructions to make your first visit an easy process.

A Quick Word of Advice

Relax. This is the single most important word of advice that we can give to someone new to Western Hills. We want you to come as you are and be yourself. This means that if you can connect with God more easily in your blue jeans then slap on your Levis . It also means that if a suit and tie helps you focus and prepare for worship, then wear that. Our focus is not on who wears what but whether people are connecting with God and with their neighbor.

Before You Arrive

  • Choose a service to attend: We have two identical worship services at 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Choose the service that best fits your Sunday. Nursery and Preschool care is available during each of the services and Children’s (K-6th) activities are also available at 9:30 and 11:00. We recommend arriving 15 minutes early on your first visit to get yourself oriented. If you have kids, you might want to make that at least 20 minutes to allow time for them to get checked in.
  • Get directions: Western Hills is located at the intersection of Auburn Road and 29th street in southwest Topeka.
  • Parking: Reserved Guest Parking is located in both the north and south parking lots next to building. After you have parked your car, enter the building through the nearest entrance.

Once You Arrive:

  • Whenever you are on our campus and have a question or are confused about what to do, look for one of our hosts wearing the ASK ME! Tag. Our Guest Information Centers are located in the North Lobby and the South Lobby. As you enter the building, look for the Information Center signs. There will be a person there who can help you with anything you need.
  • If you have kids: Western Hills is full of exciting opportunities for children.
    • Beginning with Big City Kidz Worship at 9:30 a.m. located in the Gym. Big City entrance is located off of the South Lobby.
    • Additionally, KidZone at 11:00 a.m. is a childrens small group learning experience for ages K-6th grade. Information on KidZone location is available at the Information Center or ASK ME hosts.
    • Nursery and Preschool care and programming are available at 9:30, 11:00, Check in at the Nursery counter in North Lobby.
  • Middle school and High School youth attend the worship services. Additionally, we have great activities for them with their peers at 5:30 p.m. Sunday nights and 7 p.m. Wednesday nights. (Check out the Student Webpage...)
  • Attending the service: You will find the entrance to the Worship Center in the North Lobby. Just enter and sit wherever you feel comfortable. Be assured that during the service you will not be singled out in any way as a visitor. We want you to relax and enjoy the service without fear of embarrassment. The printed information everyone is handed when entering contains a communication card. Please fill out this card and we will be happy to send you more information about the church. You can even turn this card in at the Information Center and receive a Welcome gift for joining us for worship.

Feel free to call or email the Church Office with any further questions or concerns.

We look forward to seeing you soon !
