WH Mobile On Your Home Screen

Okay, so technically it’s not an app. We just amped up our website so that it looks great on a mobile device. And we’re going to teach you how to put our website on your home screen of your phone/mobile browsing device so that it functions like an app. But it’s still amazing. We didn’t want to spend thousands of dollars of upfront costs plus a monthly fee for something that we could create with some loss of sleep, weary eyes, a few gallons of coffee and little work on some computer code. Besides that – this way it’s free!

Here’s what you need to do.

First, grab your phone or iPod or whatever mobile web device you prefer.

Second, open up your mobile web browser and head to www.whillschurch.org.
NOTE: Normal data rates apply here. The “app” is free but you’ve got to have internet access to run it. Of course, if you’re on WiFi – you don’t have to worry about all of that.

Once you get to our home page in your mobile browser – you’re going to see the awesomeness. You can listen to messages, email us, find a life group, give, follow us on twitter or Facebook, watch those cool videos we show on Sunday morning all on your phone.

Now here comes the tricky part depending on what kind of phone that you have. Basically, we are going to make a bookmark on this page then put that bookmark on the home screen of your phone. Once that happens – it will run and look just like an app.

iPhone/iPod Users
You’ve got it pretty easy. Just hit the rectangle button with an arrow on it. You’ll get a menu that will ask you what you want to do. You want to “Add To Home Screen.”

That’s its. You are done. Enjoy.

Android/Others
It gets a little cumbersome with the Android phones. Let’s walk it through.

Open up your mobile browser and head to whillschurch.org.
Bookmark our page.
Now, exit out of the browser and go to the home screen you want to put the link.
Long-press in an empty space to bring up the “Add to Home Screen” menu.
Select “Shortcuts.”
Select “Bookmark.”
Choose our bookmark.
Enjoy the Amazing Western Hills App. (I know…it’s technically not an app.)

Let us know what you think! Tweet at us or email us. You can do that from the site.
